Augmented Reality™
Augmented Reality from Total Immersion is a method of mixed reality where we merge live video with 3D virtual components to make a highly addictive, interactive experience which everyone wants to be a part of or play with. Using a standard webcam and our patented software we can convert any printed item or image into the anchor for the 3D holographic content using image recognition and motion tracking.
The software can either be loaded on to your existing website for ease of use by consumers or it can be downloaded, quickly and easily for the person to run the program on their laptop or mobile phone. Because it uses a standard webcam and standard printing processes, the only additional costs you incur is the license to use the software and the 3D content you produce.
In short, the software has the 3D content already loaded and tells the webcam what to look for. As soon as it sees the image it is looking for, the software generates the 3D content onto the item viewable on the video image and moves as you move the specific item. The image can be your existing print or even a person. The content is completely interactive where the viewer can for instance change the colour of a 3D motor vehicle, or make the dragon roar, or shoot the weapons on a space ship, or even play basesball games with the character from a collectors card.

The application can be applied in many ways but the most key areas would be the at home or online market or retail markets by using kiosks.
For the at-home market, imagine buying your favourite magazine, a print ad for a product invites you to hold the ad up to your webcam on their website, only to see a 3D holographic image emerge from the ad. For the retail environment, imagine a toy store where holding any one of the toy product boxes to the kiosk monitor (with a webcam) reveals a 3D image of what is inside the box.
Mobile applications are also available for certain phones where it uses the existing camera on the phone. Imagine playing virtual 3D tennis against a friend using blue tooth live in the park or looking at a billboard or sign post and a 3D image emerges.
